Basics of gameplay You spawn on a small floating island in the middle of no where. The only things you start with are a tree a chest which contains 1x bucket of lava ( this is the only one you get so look after it) 2x ice (use to make an infinite water supply then use that to make your cobblestone generator) 1x sign 1x melon seeds 1x pumpkin seeds 1x carrot 1x potato 1x red mushroom 1x brown mushroom 1x cactus 1x sugar cane Using these resources alone you must survive. It may seem overwhelming at first but it really isn't as bad as it sounds. I have prepared a few tutorials to help you get started. Your New Skyblock island looks like this and is made up of the following layers LEGEND G=GRASS D=DIRT S=SAND B=BEDROCK Top Layer GGGGG GGGGGGG GGGGGGG GGGGGGG GGGGGGG GGGGGGG GGGGG 2nd Layer Down D DDDDD DDDDD DDDSDDD DDDDD DDDDD D 3rd Layer Down D DDD DDSDD DDD D 4th Layer Down (this is the last layer you can mine) D DSD D Bottom Layer B and looks like this Start off by chopping your tree down, i normally take out the leaves 1st catching the falling sapling and maybe even an apple if you're lucky then go on to the trunk. replant 1 sapling in the middle and craft your logs into planks this will prepare you for the next step while you're waiting for the tree to grow you can make a cobblestone generator ( consider this temporary for now) Making a Cobblestone Generator The first thing your going to want to do is dig out a little area for your first cobblestone generator. Next place down the ice on the right most side of the hole and break it to make water. Now place the lava on the left most side and it will flow into the lava to make cobblestone in the middle. You might want to dig a hole in front of the cobblestone and stand in it while you mine so it doesn't get destroyed in the lava. And there you have it, your first cobblestone generator. (And a little trick to help with your limited resources at the start is craft 3x cobblestone into 6x cobblestone slabs making your cobble go twice as far) once this is complete make a wooden pickaxe and mine a stack of cobble or until the pickaxe dies. now you have some assets in your inventory you can start to build your Skyblock island up i normally dig down one side of my island and collect all the dirt i can plus the 3x sand as this will be needed to complete challenges. then once i've dug down one side i start to make a platform from the bedrock giving me space to then transfer my chest to and then with a little shuffling to start making a new more permanent cobblestone generator upon the newly laid cobble(Slabs) this then frees up all your dirt (you should get nearly a full stack once all dug down) A Few Commands you will need You can auction items off that you no longer need with /auc (amount of item you want to sell) (price you want to start with) (price to increase by after initial bid)(time in seconds of auction(you may end up with and advertising message if you use this as well as the other 3 options) make sure when auctioning you have the items you want to sell in your hand for the 1st stack and if you're selling more the rest needs to be in your inventory /is h (will take you back to your island spawn point) /spawn (will take you back to to Skyblock Hub) /hub (will take you out of Skyblock and back to Squadcraft Main Hub) FAQ's (please read as i will not answer these constantly on the server) Q. Do mobs spawn on my island? A. The short answer is yes The long answer is yes but it is a little slower than you'd expect and you need the right conditions (i'll add a mob spawner basics in due course) Q. Why isn't my tree growing? A. Trees will grow in due course, again maybe a little slower than you remember but you don't normally sit watching them do you? Q. How do i TP to someone? A. Only donors can use the TPA command. (now if you ask nicely and a donor or mod isn't busy they might do a tap for you but please remember this Donors have paid for this ability and aren't obliged to carry out your every TPA Request and Again a mod isn't obliged to either it isn't part of their job to ferry people around). Q. Can i join your island? (i hear this daily and several times a day) A. Please don't ask, it get's very annoying to see the same person asking to join an island. think about it from an existing members point of view (they've spent X amount of time building up their island and collecting resources, and until they get to know you and trust you it's very doubtful they'd entertain the idea of letting a complete stranger on.) A little side note on this question is, setup your own island to start with and make a start, once you have established yourself within the community maybe someone will team up with you. i'll be adding to this as needed but hopefully this helps. Note: Moderators are not responsible for lost items and do not have the ability to replace anything, you have been warned. (top tip Never leave expensive items in your inventory, keep them safe in a chest until needed)
This is spot on and i think can help a lot of the new players start up and know what is going on, so great job Damien
I was thinking. Firstly I'd like to thank you for the positive feedback, I'm pretty please with the info I managed to get across, but I feel it's ugly and I propose a venture, instead of this being ok and made purely by myself, I propose, if someone would like to "pretty" this up and possibly make a nicer layer guide and someone else create a mob spawner guide, we could make this a group effort and amazing. Thoughts on that idea?
