So I have been thinking since there has been lots of Necroposting going on, maybe something should be implemented to the forums. Something like auto-lock. So lots of players don't understand what Necroposting is, so I have been thinking, in order to prevent this issue from expanding. Something should be added like auto-lock. For example: Let's say someone made a post, and it has been 1-2months since anyone replied to the thread. Then instead of mods locking it. Auto-lock comes in and locks it. This might be cool because it will prevent one player from Necroposting and causing a majority of players replying to the "Very old thread". In my opinion, this does not have to be implemented because I know mods like locking thinks to prevent Necroposting . However it's totally up to you guys and Surge. In my opinion I think it's fine with or without it.
It's a good idea but the website isn't that flexible. Capabilities like that cannot be added unless Surge has complete access to the website's code and knows how to write HTML/CSS.
The website is hosted by a company called XenForo. So Surge most likely doesn't have the capability to add such a feature.
I don't believe "auto-lock" has been invented. Therefore someone would have to write the code (and test it) which could take months. You can't add "plugins" to a webpage, you have to write the code for it. Long story short, xenForo has to invent a code to auto-lock, test it and then release it. This could only happen if you were somehow able to get in contact with them.
Agreed. And there are website plugins. Search on internet. We need to communicate with experts to see if this is possible. This is a good idea, but it needs to come to life with some work.
Not to write, to test. But yeah, my dad said he could do it easily. I don't know how much access Surge has to the website but if he can edit the code then my dad could make an auto-lock in a day.
