I've been doing a lot of research and had many ideas. at first I wanted to put everything on a single server with two processors with 32 cores and 256 gigs of ram. With a second server just for factions. That server would cost about 9000 dollars. Only would need to pay 150 bucks a month from here on. Then I realized that this is very little processing power and too much ram. the super server would only be around 250% better then a normal server, yet it has 256 gigs of ram. Kind of crazy. And the cost is realllly crazy as well, 9000 dollars for a computer? The next idea was to use e5-1650s with like 64 gigs of ram each to balance the total ram and cpu power. This solves the problem and balances cpu to ram proportions. However at 3-4 thousand dollars a machine, we would need four of these. Also it could cost 300 bucks a month for internet and power. That's 3600 a year. Finally here comes my last idea, We could use e3-1285v4s like 6 of them with 32 gigs of ram each. The processors only cost 650 bucks each, and provide high processing power with extremely high single thread performance. Single thread performance is very important to minecraft servers since minecraft servers are coded like crap. This is the best solution so far. cost per machine is probably like 1300 bucks, and each machine can hold 500 players. So buying like 6 of them will probably cover our hosting needs and will leave tons of room for expansion for skywars 3.0 and 100 map sg. I actually had one final and even better idea. The i7-4790k seems to out perform the e3-1285 in every way and is overclockable and two times cheaper. So we can probably run squadcraft on 5 overclocked i7-4790k @ 4.7 ghz processors. The processor is twice as cheap and the gaming memory is also twice as cheap as server memory. Each machine will cost 800 dollars, that's 4,000 for hardware and 375 bucks a month for power and internet after that. That's still 4,500 bucks a year unfortunately. Anyway this is great in general because we will cut a lot of expenses off and we will be able to invest that money into advertising. It makes me cringe and face palm that originally we paid 2,750 dollars a month for hosting that's 33,000 a year, we could have saved and invested into youtubers. When we moved to intrepid I was super happy to make a 50% off deal with them and we only paid 15k for a year of hosting. In contrast to the past this made me really happy. Anyway intreppid canceled the discount and intreppid will only give a 67% discount. I'm very glad I can move squad over and pay 4k a year instead of having to pay 20,000 for hosting. progress.
Here's a wild and crazy idea 1. Get a education 2. GET A REAL JOB That way you'll have enough to run the server and not have to beg for money. Plus you'll make lots of $$$ with a ceareer. Sorry if that offened you, kittens the truth hurts.
And why would he run such an expensive server out of his own pocket? You think he doesn't have bills, rent, and food/necessities to pay for as it is? You should put some actual thought into what you say instead of just saying it. He is trying to diminish cost while keeping efficiency and all you do is complain? Getting a career while using your spare time to run a server isn't as easy as you make it sound, an undedicated owner would just cause the server to go down hill. What you are speaking isn't the truth, It is just an ignorant and somewhat selfish statement.
All I'm saying is getting a good education is much more important than Minecraft. Minecraft isn't going to pay your bills and feed you. An education will. I don't think that's very arrogant.
It's a bit late for that. He has gotten too involved in the server to just give it up for his future. He is probably already studying something even if it's online and he more than likely already knows most high school level material. Never heard this mentioned but does he have a high school diploma? Not really... Not when you actually have people out to take it down and have to be constantly fixing things and updating and hiring devs when things start getting incompatible or outdated. Maybe a small server with less than 10 people is easy to manage but when you have an unpredictable decent sized player base you never know.

Be it necessary or not, If there is no one trustworthy enough to be admin and we promote someone who we kinda think will be good but they turn out abusive or backstabbing, what then? It's better drench it in lighter fluid and burn it. Smells like sweet agony.

That doesn't mean you have to let your server you can take Computer related courses like Coding and what not Education should be a priority right now. That's all I'm saying.
