Yukon, the Northwest Territories, and Nunavut make up 40 percent of Canada's land mass. This land is inhospitable tundra.

Although the arttic is cold and isolated, under the snow, ice and ocean rests a quarter of the world's energy resources. due to climate change this "buried treasure" is getting easier to reach and remove. Scientist believe an ice-free arctic summer could come as early as 2020 - and the Canadian government wants to be ready to protect.

The northwest passage could soon become a well traveled shortcut connecting the pacific and Atlantic oceans however this land belongs to Canada. The U.S, for one does not recognize our ownership over the Northwest passage, which it calls "an international stait." Already our American neighbours have already sent oil tankers through without asking permission... HOW RUDE

In response Canada increase spending on the Canadian Navy by 35 billion dollars, to protect our land.

    there will be
    6 offshore patrol ships
    15 combat ships
    3 naval support ships
    and a heavy ice breaker

These will be ready by 2018
Canada is pre pared to protect there land

So what my concern is that a huge fight will break out for the land that the US desperately needs for natural resources such as oil.

What do you think will happen?

Well what's happening right now is something called escalation.

One small event triggers a bigger one and another.

Oil tankers entering Canada without permission

-> Leads to 35 billion dollar investment in the navy to protect the land

-> I wonder how the U.S will react

(not us btw whitch means something completely different)

Hey you have to admit this one is kind of interesting

I think the Canadians should dump all their maple syrup into both mouths of the passage so boats cant get threw because the syrup is to thick for there propellers to move

    That's what id do XD

    You think that is bad?

I violate over throwing of the U.S government... Highly unlikely.

I think we have different definitions of Revolution.

Revolution means revolting againsts your government.

This happened in France during the great France during the French Revolution where the third estate revolted against king Louis the 16th and formed there own government.
