So I've watched Kubo and the Two Strings when it came out on release. And to be honest, it was the best animation I've seen in my entire life. Great story line, unique characters, and having the most unique style of art I've seen. Adding to that, it has great ratings, having: 8.4/10 on IMDB 96% on Rotten Tomatoes 86% on Metacritic But, despite having all that positive feedback, it only has a 14.8 million dollar box office. It's distressing for me on how people judge Kubo and the Two Strings so poorly based on the studios and the art. Only 14.8 Million in Box Office? People actually need to open their fucking eyes and stop judging it so fast based on visuals and the studio who created the movie. Minions was a shitty movie, yet it has a 1 Billion Dollar in Box office.
Lose faith in humanity for a movie. I understand losing it for killer gnomestar. but a movie. smoke a snickers bar, you're not you when you don't smoke snickers bars
Have you considered the fact that maybe some people just like movies more than others? I don't even go to the movies that much at all.
Suicide Squad and Sausage Party were the most hyped ones. When you think about it, of course this film didn't make shit when it is airing in theaters at the same time as those two. People aren't going to go use their money on a studio they don't know (most people don't even care about the studio)/animation they don't like. It's their money and their right to decide which movie they want to see which will most likely be the movie which is made by a company that has brought us many good films in the past.
This is true. My point is that people aren't going to suddenly go and see a movie because you express disappointment of its income. I get what AniJan is saying but people will be people. More hype = more $
Didn't this just release in cinemas? Therefore that's just its opening weekend or whatever totals? Additionally, is that world wide figures or just US totals? Put all that together, and you may come to the conclusion that 14.8 million just might not be its final total. Chill bruh. But that's none of my business.
They could've done a better job at scheduling when the movie was gonna be released. With Suicide Squad, Jason Bourne, and Sausage Party out, yeah good luck with that.
Kubo is a strong contender for best animated movie of the year and could maybe make a run at best action movie, in my opinion. I loved how it had a childlike sense of adventure built-in, but didn’t feel childish in the way a lot of kids movies can. It seems to be cursed to never find an audience, perhaps because it wasn’t willing to pitch itself as young as possible. I understand that people have different perspectives on movies, therefore they can choose what to watch. But it still deserves to be a bigger hit than $13.5million.
How much a movie makes doesn't matter in the slightest, It should only matter to the studio because it's their film and they will be receiving the money. It is up to 27.6 million either way. I personally don't like the way the movie looks when it comes to that style of animation, I prefer Coraline or The Nightmare before Christmas styles because I find them cleaner while darker but that's just me. Also, It's poster is just way too plain for anyone to really be captivated by it and feel the need to give it a chance.
I think they could care less if their movie is the top or not. Like you said, they're still getting a lot of money.
The amount of money they're getting right now isn't even close to pay everything. The budget, the advertisement, the actors. With the money they have now and what's coming in the future, they'll have to use more of their own budget. Since it's a movie with the japanese theme to it, they would need to adapt an art style that goes along with the theme. It does seem a bit weird, but that's why it's so unique.
Sausage Party is accused of not paying animators for overtime if I remember correctly. Plus, I don't know why you're telling me this. They didn't hype Kubo as much as the other movies. Right when Sausage Party is getting hyped. Nothing you say can change the fact that they're earning the amount of money they're earning right now. You won't earn anything by saying how blind people are for not watching Kubo. (Except when it comes to pop music. That kind of music is genuinely shitty)
I wouldn't go so far to call it especially unique. I brought up Coraline and The Nightmare before Christmas because they visually look quite similar. The only real differences I noted were eye shapes and details in the hair, but in most aspects it's more similar to James and the Giant Peach for the hair and character bodies were more similar to The Nightmare before Christmas. I don't know about the story but most stories are already unique unless it's like a marvel/DC movie where it's set in the same universe as another one of their films. http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=blairwitchproject.htm http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0185937/trivia That's actually false but not super far from the truth. Budget of 60,000 but only spent less than half of that.
Jason Bourne and Nerve also should have done better at the box office. Suicide Squad made over $500 million, and for good reason, they came out with a lot of good trailers.
Stop it, slaves. I'm the hottest and that is that. Every girl wants to stroke my veiny fucking cock. I wish...
