Steam Boxes

  1. Most people here play mc and steam games such as call of duty, CS, battlefield, and a lot more (I play gmod most of the time). Some of us would prefer to play on a tv over a monitor so that is were steam boxes come in. I honestly wouldn't recommend a steam box because of the fact there is much better technology to play steam games on your tv and without using an hdmi cord leading to your PC. Items such as the nvidia shield are much better than steam boxes. There is a console type of the shield being released soon but there is also a small portable version and a tablet version out right now. You essentially need a program on your computer to stream your PC to the shield, also a certain nvidia graphics card (640 I think). You can use bluetooth controllers for the tablet version. The OS is android so you will also be able to play android games on it with a controller (can do that on most devices anyway). It streams games up to 1080p 60fps. I am planning on getting the tablet version because I need a tablet and it also has a mini hdmi out port so I can plug t into my tv and use it just as a steam box. There is another product that is cheaper than the nvidia shield called the "razer forge" it's a 100$ mini console and can steam PC games to your tv. There will also be a bluetooth keyboard and mouse for it. It also has a android OS. Just wanted to help people out who were thinking about getting a steam box because you are essentially just buying another PC and will cost you a lot more money than you have to spend.
