Why I'm leaving SquadCraft (and I'm taking tarik with me.)

TL;DR VERSION: I'm qutting because SquadCraft is insecure as fuck (and full of hackers and DDoSers), and Tarik is leaving because he despises the way that Yonda treats staff and players.

Before I begin, tarik is too much of a lazy ass to write his own thread, so this is technically both of our quitting threads.

Unfortunately, I no longer feel safe on SquadCraft. Despite only being a moderator for 2 months (and being inactive for a quarter of that,) I've already started to get DDoS'd. Obviously, getting DDoS'd is just a pain in the ass that nobody should have to put up with. Also, Jello just got hacked! They got into his paypal as well, and honestly I am scared shitless by the idea of someone taking my money.

I really don't want add to the growing list of ex-mods, but safety comes first for me. I want to keep my money as well as computer safe, and well, SquadCraft isn't a very good place for that. Because of this, unlike the other ex-mods, I will no longer be on SquadCraft (even as a regular member,) until it becomes a safer place to play. I just can't risk my own personal safety for the sake of SquadCraft, sorry. :c

If your butthurt about my leave (which I'm sure very few people will be,) just remember that you may see me again someday. Whether it be on a safer SquadCraft or another server, I won't be dead. c;

As a precaution, I've removed and blocked every skype contact I have from SquadCraft. I'm really sorry about this, please do not take offence. I don't really want to do this, but unfortunately, I have to.

Another part of why I'm leaving (and the main reason tarik is leaving) is Yonda. All of his demotions have been over dumb shit that really people did not need to be demoted over. The thread he made is about 50% bullshit, and any staff member can see that. He's promoted mods who barely know what they're doing in the ex-moderators places, and honestly that is a complete pile of shit. Especially when there's great moderator applications lying around. -.-

(If you ask me if you can have SG mod because I and tarik left, I will find you and cut you.)

Yonda, that was in a old forum post you locked and I can't seem to find.. You should also be open to suggestions to help the server.. For example I have been on skyblock all day yesterday and it was really busy, almost a full server, then bam, everyone timed out.. It that about 4-5 times... The servers need improvement and mods hear what the players have to say. They want to come to you but you shoo them away. I have one prime example of that, the suffixes.
Teamwork, understanding and trust needs to be there between the admin and the mods. I guess not in this case.

I dislike it when Squad is referred to as a business when we talk about mods. It is only ever related to profits for two individuals, and so it only feels like a business for me when we refer to the income from purchases made by players. Mods aren't employees, we are volunteers. I agree volunteers must obey someone higher in hierarchy, but good volunteers are hard to find, as we have seen with the new ones who have been modded

 

Are concurrent mods aloud to suggest people they think may make a good mod, instead of the current system of apply and hope they are going to make a good mod?

Yeah, I understand you get paid and put money into this server but you cant treat it like work.. I know you have people on your back about everything... maybe listen to what they are on your back about?

 

This is work. For myself and surge. Neither of you are listening, it is a business regardless of what you say. You are on our backs about stupid things when we have MUCH bigger problems to think about. Step back for a second and look at the huge scale of it. Before reading, just take into account that this will be my last post on the matter.

I, nor HammieRae denied the fact that it is a business. But when dealing with matters regarding mods on the server, it may be better to be looked at otherwise. Like I said before, we aren't employees, rather volunteers. Volunteers work for no salary, like us. Yes, all (or most I should hope) enjoy the work and that's why I try and do it to the best of my ability whenever I am on, but mods aren't the money rakers of the server.

We are there solely for the purpose of helping out players, enforcing the rules and dealing with rulebreakers accordingly. Yes, we may add value but I know players don't donate because of mods. Nor do moderators do their jobs for the reason of upping the donations for you and Surge.

That's the reason why I dislike us being referred to along with the financial side of things, cause that's not for us, it's not in our interest. It's yours and Surge's matter.

I've tried to keep this as respectful as possible but I suppose it's up to you to interpret it as you wish

Yes, I understand that there is more that meets the eye to us players. I understand that you guys face problems every day some big some small. We all have problems, I can personally vouch for that. We also need to teach people with respect about everything.
If we were looking at this as a business ill go with it. Yonda and surge are owners of a company, they keep the lights on and the production going. We ( players) are people who shop at this business and the mods are the workers... if we something that is broken or if you in limited supply of something we confront the workers. Then they talk to you. If nothing gets fixed or supply is not stocked, you wilo loose business.
There to show the "business" part of what I am saying.. as admin and owner you will get blamed and hated on with EVERYTHING but it is your task to embrace the hate or just shrug it off.
I am ending this as well, my last post about this. I only spoke up for my friends and seeing the way they are treated, just like I am at my place of employment. I hate seeing people hurt, me hurting people and people getting disrespect. Friends will take you far in this world, I have defiantly made the best of friends on this server and learned new things.
I wish the best of luck to all the remaining mods out there and all the ones that left.
And yonda, im not hating on you. If you ever want to talk, I am all eyes and ears. I love to listen if you ever need a friend.

Every "volunteer" has the right to leave anytime they want. I'm not stopping them I simply replace them. Older mods hating on the new ones just because they haven't been taught yet? Teach them. Help them if they are doing a bad job. I don't have time to spend in a 1 to 1 session with every single mod. So I generalize them and if 1 screws up they are all screw ups. But the mods know i'm not talking to them if it wasn't them I just simply don't have the time to personalize it. I've said this previously. I'm 16, in college, social life, working on a car and doing alot for squadcraft (Most of it listed in my demotions thread in the news section). So maybe you'll understand if the first time you see me I just snap. You just have to understand that i'm not actually mean and if you message me 1 to 1 I will maybe talk to you. IF IT'S SOCIAL. If the only reason you message me is to ask for something or tell me about an issue I won't message back. If you don't beleive I won't talk back to people examples are: Reflect, chacha, katni, joshy, dibs, ging, jesusf. Everybody else hasn't bothered to message me in a social way so I haven't bothered with them. Like honestly you say "Squad can't run without mods" You all once said "What if we all quit what then?". Simple answer. I moderated the entirety of squadcraft every server of it ALONE for a year. I can do it again if need be if I can't find good help. You're acting like I ask you to work 24 hours a day but when I come on I maybe ask you to go to a different server and moderate it for atleast 30 minutes. And you can understand me getting angry when people do not listen to that fact. No moderation = less donations, less donations = less money, less money = squadcraft SHUTDOWN. Let me paint this for you. This is surges full time job, all his money comes from here, his rent his bills. EVERYTHING. If mods are affecting donations by not moderating somewhere it stresses me because they could make surge homeless, that is what i'm most stressed about. I don't care so much about myself, i'm more worried about him and the bigger picture. It isn't that hard to just go to a server you don't want to for atleast 30 minutes for surge, is it?

Im sorry, I wanted to end this but I just have one question. It pains me to say it but I want to know.
If this is surges full time job, where he gets his money for bills an rent ( most if not all have to deal with, im in that same boat) why isn't the servers in full, working, order? I understand that there is plug-ins and some dont mix with others.. but I started on this server 2 months before noah left. Ill say this I have never seen squadcraft have more problems now than it did when I first came here. I understand that a sever has and will always have its trouble but im not looking for that answer im looking for the truth.
