Why do you play Minecraft?

I play Minecraft because it is a way to escape your real world problems. When I was little I was never into legos. But when I was in 7th grade we had to create a castle in my World History class, someone asked if you could use Minecraft. When the teacher said yes the whole class went coo-coo, me not knowing what Minecraft was then of course had to hop onto the internet craze known as “Minecraft”. Ever since then I have been hooked.

What is your time zone?

I live in PST (Pacific Standard Time)

When are you usually online?

To be honest, I try spend my time split between Squad and another server I am staff on. Of course though, something can happen on one server which would have me be online. Although, that is only if something crazy is happening. I do independent studies which gives me the chance to edit my schedule because with my studies everything is about time management. This will be my second semester and I have everything set up to:

50%- Studies

25%- Friends

Oh wait, I don’t have any friends.

50% - Minecraft

Where do you spend your time at SquadCraft?

I spend my time on mostly on Factions, but I also play on Sky Wars, and Kit PvP. I used to be extremely active on Factions, but I had some irl issues and I went awol for about 6 months. I lately have been trying to get back into it though. Some people might remember me from my old name, fastenedmender6.

Why do you want to be a moderator? What is your goal as a SquadCraft moderator?

I want to be a moderator for SquadCraft because, I know this is probably used all the time but, I just want to give back to the community. I can remember times where people have talked smack about Surge on the teamspeak saying things like “He doesn’t do sh*t for the server”, “He would rather have the server die than live”, but I can prove those comments wrong. I remember a time where I have actually emailed Surge when I had a donation problem and it seemed like he responded back right away. That shows he puts all his time into the server, and that all he wants to do is improve it. My goal as a moderator is to welcome new players and respect old ones. I know that sounds weird. But, I logged onto the server recently and noticed there is a huge amount of players that I do not recognize. But there is also long time players of Squad that are extremely dedicated. Another goal of mine is just to keep chat clean of spammers, advertisers, etc.

Do you want Mod just to have Mod next to your name?

As a staff member of any kind, ranging from Helper to Admin (I know Squad does not have helpers) your reason should never be just to have the Prefix. Your reason should always be to help others and watch the chat. Having the prefix just means you have earned that position. I can guarantee, if you want the position for the prefix you would never get accepted. There is a difference between I want staff and I need staff. “I’m not after fame and success and fortune and power. What happens if you are not chosen to be a moderator?

I would completely understand, I understand if there is better staff prospects than me currently. I could just be patient and try to put myself out there more on the forums/server. Like Piers Plowman said, “Patience is virtue”.

What kind of skills do you have?

Well I am able to juggle 3 tennis rackets at the same time, is that good enough? Hah, I am kidding. But I am a patient person, I have gone to a couple of meditation camps. Those camps have taught me to have better concentration and in rough situations or arguments just take a few breaths and brush it off.

Have you ever been banned? If so, why?

I can proudly say I have never been banned from Squad, and probably never will, because I play the game correctly and never ddos threat other players

Have you ever cheated, used hacks? If so, why?

Yes, I have used hacks (modded clients) before. I used them because I was in a group of friends where if you did not hack in pvp you wouldn’t stand a chance. The other reason I used hacks is because when you would fight others (especially new players), they would just think you were really good because it looks like you are looking at Jesus and hitting them every time. I have been hack-free for a few months. I stopped hacking because I realized that using clients just ruins the game, not only for yourself but for every player on the server. I have decided since then that legit gameplay should be the only kind of gameplay, and have gotten into the habit of reporting hackers, glitchers, spammers, etc.

How do you treat younger players?

When speaking to younger players sometimes things can be confusing. Their grammar might not be 100%, but I realize that if you are patient with them and try to re-read what they are saying they have legitimate questions. I also have a little brother and younger cousins that play Minecraft so I would just treat the players of that age range the same way I would treat them.

Do you use TeamSpeak or Skype?

I have both TeamSpeak and Skype. I am willing to come on whenever needed, just message me and I will be on quicker than you can say “Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis”.

List the things you've done to help the SquadCraft community and the SquadCraft server.

• I have also given out the suggestion to have a specific icon next to staff members names of the TeamSpeak to avoid Impersonation and just so you know if someone is a staff member or not.
  
  
• I have given out in game money and items to new players to help them get started.

How many applications have you submitted before? When was the last one?

I have submit 1 other application. It was in early April, but was denied because then I did not have a complete understanding of the forum rules and broke a rule.

Do you have any experience as a staff member of any organization? (doesn't have to be Minecraft)

Well, irl since I have so much free time I put about 5 hours a week into a volunteer coffee shop. Where all the money they earn is sent to a donation company to stop sex trafficking. But in game, I have been Head Mod on my friend Brian’s server. Which died because of an abusive admin. I also used to be Mod on Cody’s server Old Squad, but I resigned ultimately do that I felt as if Cody and I had different thoughts on what’s right for the server. It was also the first time it had been accepted to staff on any server and was more stressed than I really needed to be. Currently though, I am Mod on a Drugs server called Hazard Craft.

Tell us about yourself, about you, your character, personality and values.

Well there really isn’t much to say, I used to play a lot of sports. I later stopped though because I realized it’s more fun to play with friends and just have fun than to be told what to do by coaches. I am 15 year old just trying to enjoy life and seize the moment, carpe diem! My character in Dark Souls is an ng+ Pyromancer with 99 in both intelligence and dexterity, I am joking. I try to not be so serious all the time. An example is that I said a few jokes in the application. My personality is just me being myself. Some people think I am weird, but when they say that kind of stuff to me I just turn it back into positive energy. What I value the most is my friends and family. But out of the two I value my family more because blood is thicker than water.

The application is very good, and has great detail. It is well written, and looks like there was a lot of time and effort put into it.
Although the application is good, there's somethings you could change.

-Normally when applying, we look for people who are very involved with the community. Looking at your profile, I see that you just came back, therefore you don't have much experience with the newer players that just joined Squad.

-Be active in game. As much as I'm online, I don't really see you on, ever. Yeah, sure I'm not a big factions player, but you said that you stop by on Skywars and Kitpvp and I never see you there.

-Be familiar with the rules. Looking at your previous application, I can see you weren't very known with the rules. Although you most likely know them now, I'm just trying to help.

I wrote this b4 I looked at the thread sorry, also amazing app I can see the time you put into it. But still a -1 for me because when you get mod you might start hacking again or just abuse all the time because you may feel the power that you own everyone now but anyways good luck.

Thanks for the response! Every kind of response is appreciated, my old IGN was fastenedmender6, I used to hack on Squad last year. I can assure you I would not abuse or get back into hacking though, considering that both abusing power and hacking is frowned upon on every server, I would risk getting demoted and/or banned.

 

When people say they hacked, its very hard to trust that person. Especially for mods when that person writes a mod application.

I confessed to hacking because I know it is wrong, if I thought it was fine I probably would not have said I have hacked in the first place. Although, I do see where you are coming from with that it is harder to trust people who have used hacks before.

Hey Fasten, you would be such a good moderator in my opinion, you never swear, and are very mature. The only downside is that you used to hack; I know you quit hacking, and that's amazing - however, some players may still think of you as a 'hacker'. Other than that amazing work in the application, you're online so much as well. Best of luck, Jango.

But yes, I was the person who made the thread/video. I have felt remorseful about it, and I did apologize to Surge on Skype, and I asked him in game once if things are cool between us and he didn't even recognize me. So ever since then I have felt like things have been put behind, the video is one of the reasons I left Squad for a while, I was ashamed of myself and my actions.

I know the fact that I used to hack is an iffy subject, but I am willing to screenshare staff on Skype, let them go through my entire computer. This server means the world to me, and I know trying to make the past be forgotten and not having people bring it up is inevitable. I can at least try to let everyone know that I am not the same person I once was. Earning this position would be one of the most significant things to ever happen to me. The best thing I can do is try, because if you don't try it shows that you don't care. This was in a time when me and Fastened were both very toxic players, we've changed from that. We wanted our image to be different and I can tell that Fastened has become more mature since then, you have my word for it.
