Firstly, I know there is hardly life left in these forums, so if you have friends who still play Minecraft, or new friends who play Minecraft, link them to this thread on Skype. As of this post, SquadCraft has 15 players online. The server is practically dead, and has been for a while now. Most of you know me as the ex builder, but over the past month I've been much more than that. I've finished that zombie survival server (yes, the one that was said to be released almost a year ago) by myself, and this time it is actually being released within a couple of days. Surge has a job which has slowed his ability to produce new and exciting features for you guys to play on, although he still maintains the servers. That's where I come into the equation. I'll be creating the new servers, the new minigame, while surge maintains them. A new era of squad craft is upon us. So, to the main point of this thread: What does squad need to become great again? This is a serious question, and I want to hear the answer from you guys, not a plugin developer or a three year old forum thread. Do we need a fully fledged staff team, or more unique servers (don't worry, I'll be rolling them out, and I'll need helpers, so I guess a staff team is going to happen no matter what) Just throw your ideas out there, and if you agree with what someone says, like it so I know others agree. Well, if you got this far, thank you. That's a fat wall of text.
Firstly, welcome back and thanks Sparrow for the hard work you've been putting in. Lord knows Surge needs it. I believe something needs to be done about factions that makes a"more cozy" environment. Thats what the old factions had w/the small spawn, and large amount of people. It made it more like a community rather than a server. So firstly, one factions server needs to go. I dont care which one, but one needs to go that way the players only go on one sub-server. That will increase the player count on said sub-server and just make factions 10x better than now. Hey Sparrow, how's it goin? I don't play minecraft anymore, but it's gonna be hard getting people to play on this server again. You say the name "squadcraft", and most of the people who have heard of it think it's dead. I think it's a good idea, but it's gonna take a while to revive this server.
Definitely. Squad has been dead for a while and me playing squad since 3 years ago watching it slowly die, I believe that we can make squad again because I used to love playing but then gradually dying, it just wasnt fun anymore because barely anyone would come on. Btw not a new member I just havent been on forums for ever Lol I remember killing surgetheurge in one of his skywars videos <3 skywars used to be the best.
Plugins are part of the reason on why the server is so dead, especially kitpvp, glitchy, flawed really badly, and that nobody likes it because of those 2 reasons. I personally believe having 2 of a certain topic of server is pointless (fac2, facs, kitpvp, kitpvp2). Spread of word could help too. Dedication and motivation as well, as surge doesn't seem to care about his server anymore to bring it alive again.
Plugins were the main thing that turned me off. Wasn't there a knockback plugin? Or was it that there was a cool down between hitting people on kitpvp
What I would like for Squadcraft to be great again is to have a completely fixed Skyblock server that doesn't get damaged beyond repair by the introduction of a new server, with no limits or alterations to spawn rates, complete bulk sell, where issues aren't left for months at a time to get fixed and players aren't left to endure problems. Oh, and we could also do with a more supportive and organised team of staff who don't leave issues to be forgotten on the forums and can actually help fix problems without expecting players to contact Surge outside of the forums themselves, it feels like there's a lack of communication between the staff themselves and some members are acting independently. And let's throw in some extra players who are a bit more optimistic and don't join the server to drive everyone out or instantly put down mod apps and ban appeals on the basis that the server is dead, despite the fact that the forums and server have to be up in order for them to be in a position to make such a claim. And how about updating the Skywars leaderboard so the IGNs and skins of players are up-to-date and accurate as well. Plus, if a new update is due to be rolled out that is going to affect the players in some way, perhaps it could be done so in a way that everyone isn't left in the dark about it. In response to whether we need unique servers or a fully fledged staff, I'd probably say get some more staff on who can help to sort out current state of Squadcraft first; that includes the owner, and then worry about appealing to the rest of the internet. When it does come down to introducing a new server then it's worth reviewing whether it's possible to be implemented without affecting the performance of the other servers, and perhaps ensure that there's backups of the servers before a big update is made so that a problem affecting a whole server is reversible. And if some big problem like what's going on Skyblock right now with people losing their islands and stuff, we could do with support in actually getting the damage repaired without the server being left to slowly die out. Provocation is unintentional, I'm merely giving my opinions on what I'd like to see for the server, plus this is a thread to try and fix Squadcraft, not destroy it further. If anyone decides to kick up a fuss then do so at your own will, but you'll be responsible for causing it.
Kitpvp needs a a complete overhaul @Thesparrow11 if you would like me to make a list tell me otherwise I'm not gonna spend hours on writing kitpvp problems and solutions. Creative could do with some additions. Factions again needs a major working over. Prison is ok for the most part. Skyblock you should ask @Basilbac @Finalninjadog. Mcmmo, survival games and skywars should just be shutdown and put away for now. As for the bajillion factions only have one and same for kitpvp have one.
Squad needs servers to be fixed, a staff team full of unbiased people. Not saying the current one isn't completely full of them. But there's a couple people. Then advertisements need to be purchased. YouTubers second. After that is when you should do all the new games modes and stuff. Where you can afford large developers to help you out with stuff. I can't stress how important advertisements are. The difference is you can tell when a YouTuber is paid and not caring, verses when they actually do. Advertisements are advertisements. You see them, you get online. Nothing more.

Probably not the best time to try to revitalise it. People have too many responsibilities for staff positions. I've no idea how I balanced my schedule and modding for the server. I've got two AP classes now. I can only imagine what others have to do.

I know this thread is old but I really want to help out the server. I think we should look on the server lists, to see which game modes attract players. One thing I would suggest is updating the skywars plugin. The current plugin being used is discontinued and very outdated. There are modernised versions which implement much nicer features. Such as BiteSkyWars (just an example) When I say look at popular game modes, I mean something that would attract lots of players, like BedWars which I know has been attracting lots of players on servers like Hypixel and HiveMC. SkyWars is one of the most popular mini games in mine craft, and if we updated our skywars server with a modernised plugin we would have a good chance of players. One of the main reasons squad has lack of players is also because of advertising. If we advertised on some server listing sites, showing off our game modes and features we would have a good chance of success and squad would become populated again.
