The bible etc are metaphors to me.. I mean of course Adam didn't lose a rib for Eve.. Same in other religions. In the Torah it says to kill those who disbelieve- holy books should be read with intelligence and not to take everything literally..

Also, you don't have to choose between science or religion, I think you can believe in evolution and God... I think God is in us all by doing good to others.

It just seems like the bible teaches a lot of medieval theories and notions that in modern society are considered factoids or bigoted opinions

As I said it should be read with intelligence.
