The Treaty of Versailles basically limited Germany's rights. "The Big 4" sought to punish them to prevent another war from breaking out again. The treaty blamed Germany and required them to pay in reparations, which they are still doing today.
It humiliated Germany and some felt it was unjust because like the other countries, Germany was poor and weak from the recent war. To add on, their economy was severely damaged and lost land and power. This was one cause of Hitler's rise in dictatorship. Hope that was brief enough.
