Hi, I'm Dylan. This is my Minecraft story.

So it was December 2009. I was with my family visiting my mum's boyfriend, who lived 160 miles away from us. My brother was playing some game on his laptop, and I had a look. It was this weird, low resolution blocky game, but I thought it looked cool, so I took a look. I made a free account, as there was no paid version in those days, and we hopped on a couple of classic (Back then it was called "creative") servers. It was great. The first server I logged on to was called "Zypher's Server". It was great. Everything was so bright, there was wool everywhere, flowers everywhere, it was a great place. Me and my brother hung around the area for a bit, until he broke something and flooded the entire server with lava (oops). So we moved on to our second server. I don't really remember it, so I'll just skip it. Next, we went on something called "The Sweatshop Experience". It was great. As soon as we logged in we were greeted by an awesome lobby world, with water that when you walked through it it woud teleport you into these worlds. The worlds were filled with awesome creations, so bright and colourful. I loved it, this server let you create wour own little worlds and build whatever you want without them being griefed or reset, and it was so great. This is where I started my Minecraft journey.

I met a lot of people on this server. It was really fun times, and I love it to this day. I met this guy on that server, who themsemves owned a server. I added them on skype, and we got talking. Long story short, I became co-owner on their server. There I started my moderating career. I still played on Cube's Sweatshop Experience (Which was renamed to The Sweatshop Experience), but I also loved helping people, and helping the server. Indev and infdev had come out, and I had not purchased an account, but my brother had. It looked awesome, playing in survival mode, having to collect what you need. Once alpha rolled out, I decided to buy an account. I still remember the first time I ever played alpha survival. I spawned on a gravel beach, as they existed, and back in those days you would only ever spawn on beaches. I remember my brother telling me how everything works, telling me to punch down that tree, make a pickaxe and mine that stone. It was all new and awesome to me, I loved the whole new experience. I only played on peaceful, but I liked it that way. I still played on The Sweatshop, because however fun survival was, multiplayer was more fun. It was just as fun on creative as it was when I joined.

One day I was on the server, doing whatever I would do. I remember this very fondly, I was in the Spleef world (We had a server mod that allowed us to make the spleef floor when you clicked a block, and it was like the only minigame at the time) and suddenly the chat exploded. People were shouting in chat "OH MY GOD NOTCH JUST RELEASED MULTIPLAYER", it was awesome. The owner told us an IP to join, and shut down the server. We then went on one of the first ever SMP (Survivial Multiplayer) servers ever, in the first day of SMP, and had a blast. It was so much fun, even with all the bugs and glitches. We didn't care, it was the greatest thing to ever happen in Minecraft history, and maybe stll is to this day. The old TSE went back up and things pretty much returned back to normal after that, except the fact that SMP was out. One day, Notch posted something on his blod. It was about this new "Hell dimension", and somewhere he released screenshots of it. It looked so cool, something different to what is normally in Minecraft. That release was so hyped, biomes finally became a thing, it was the biggest update ever. I had this world, it was World 3 (The world system only let you have 5 worlds at the time). It was my first real world, I had this underwater glass house. I also had this really cool cave system, it was so big, windy, and had so many splits in all of my time on that world I never finished exploring it. I then found this program "INVedit", it let you edit your in game inventory, and my world went from good to awesome. I was able to do so much more, and I loved the game even more. After that, some friends and I made this small private server, which we used commands to play in. We didn't build anything really, but we had a lot of fun, and I cherish those moments until this day.

There is a big gap in my memory there, but I remember getting into redstone. I loved playing with it, making my own little contraptions, circuits, just brilliant things in general. I found this youtuber, scjoiner (or Stephen Joiner). He was great at redstone, for what there was at the time (Before even repeaters), and he was on this server, "Infrared's server". On that server there were some faces that are popular now. One of those faces was docm77. I remember doc when he was doing his original world tour, with barely and fanbase, and we've even talked at some points. scjoiner and I had been talking, and he subscribed to me on YouTube. I really have no clue why, I made really bad videos, on a really bad PC, with the highest voice and the worst quality ever, but this guy with thousands of subscribers was interested, thought I was good, worth a subscriber. If you want to check out that channel, it's here. I got 144 thousand video views, my biggest video at 69 thousand views. Then Beta 1.3 came out. it had repeaters, this new redstone device that made everyone's life easier. I played singlepayer a lot from there, for months, over a year maybe. Minecon happened, release had rolled around, I still played solo. I remember this one world, from Release 1.0, the seed was"Noah", and t spawned these awesome floating islands, which I made a wallpapar out of (http://i.imgur.com/1NPN3.jpg) and that was another great word of mine. I ended up finding a duplication glitch, and having infinite iron and diamonds (I always seemed to ruin my worlds by cheating ;_;), so that was the end of the road for Noah.

After that, big things stated happening. The hey0 server mod died, Bukkit replaced it, with a whole plugin system and great new oppurtunities for servers. Big server networks appeared, great new minigames, stuff was great. I played some of these servers, but for a long time I stuck to a server I found from a YouTuber. The YouTubr was called "JoshuaMutter", and he had a server called "UKraft". It was great, I met so many new people and one of my best friends who I still talk to to this day. That was a great server, I even starred in one of JoshuaMutter's videos (The first scene from this one: ) but eventually that ended. I then started playing MCSG. It was pretty much the first ever Survival Games server, and it wasn' even a network. You had to go on the website and find the IP to an open game, and join it. It was at that point I decided it was impossible to PvP with a trackpas, so I bought a mouse. I played a lot of minigames at that point, but then my story got kind of boring. I discovered this server called "Mindcrack" a while ago, but that is pretty much it.

On August 6th 2013, BrenyBeast released a video. It was titled “Minecraft: SKY WARS #1 – Feat. NoahCraftFTW!”. He played in this server called “Squadcraft”, playing a minigame called “SkyWars” that I'd never heard of before. I hopped on the server and checked it out, and it was great! I loved the fast paced action you get, I loved just being able to hop into another game when you're done, and I just loved it in general. I played it every day, but then I discovered UHC. I played UHC a lot. 1-5 games per day, I was done with SkyWars at this point. I even bought my own server, configured it, and hosted UHCs myself. It was a great experience, I made many friends, was invited to a private server and had an amazing time in general. About 5 months ago, I lost that spark. I felt like I wasn't enjoying myself anymore, so I stopped. Looking for things to so, I returned to Squadcraft, finding out a lot of stuff had changed. Noah was gone (Thank god), new maps, new hubs, a lot of stuff changed. But what didn't was the love for the game. My time was the same, I loved playing the game. I returned to spending all my free time every day playing SkyWars. I loved it so much I bought gold, supporting the server. Then I had some problems. Things made me... less happy. Bad circumstances I guess, but after a month break, I have returned.

This pretty much sums up my tme in Minecraft, the whole 5 years. I'm sure I've forgotten a lot, but this is the best I can remember.

Also, The Sweatshop Experience is still up as a survival server, which is cool.

Thanks for reading. This took over an hour to write, and it was a good trip down memory lane.
